Located in the heart of Santee Cooper Country, with convenient access from two interstate highways, this 2,496-acre park offers land and pier-based cabins, as well as two lakefront camping areas. A sportsman's paradise, this area is known for its catfish, largemouth and striped bass fishing, and is the site of numerous fishing tournaments. The meeting facility is ideal for group functions.
The park is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the peak season. The day-use area is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the off season. An admission fee applies to each day visitor age 16 and older.

Cabins
Thirty cabins are available to family vacationers, fishermen and other sportsmen. Ten cabins are located on piers extending into the waters of Lake Marion, while the remaining 20 are located in a dense, moss-draped wooded area along the lake shore.
These two-bedroom cabins can accommodate up to six people, are fully furnished and equipped with cooking and eating utensils, linens and color TV with cable. Each pier-based cabin has boat docking facilities while each land-based cabin has deck, grill, shoreline boat tie up, and picnic table. Cabins must be reserved for a period of one week (Monday-Monday and Friday-Friday) during June, and July.
Check-in time is 4 p.m. and check-out time is 10 a.m. Pets are not allowed in cabins, or cabin area. Coin-operated laundry equipment located near the park office.

Fishing/Boating
Anglers from all over the country come to Santee to test their skills against the famous landlocked striped bass, king of the freshwater fighting fish. This feisty ocean bass has adapted well after being trapped in the waters of Lake Moultrie and Marion due to the construction of the dams in 1941. These fish, along with largemouth bass, catfish and crappie are among the wide variety of fish challenging every angler on Lake Marion. Located next to the tackle shop is a fishing pier and boat ramp. Rental boats are available year-round. Another boat ramp is located near the 100-site campground.

The Park Store
On the shore of Lake Marion, the tackle shop stocks an assortment of rods, reels, tackle and bait for fishermen. Fishing licenses are sold and in-boat refueling is available. Other items include camping supplies, souvenirs and basic grocery items.

Camping
Two camping areas with a total of 158 campsites are located near the lake shore Each site has water and electrical hookups, a picnic table and is conveniently located near a comfort station with hot showers and restroom facilities. Fifty sites are situated near the tackle shop while a hundred-site area is located near the swimming area and pavilion.
All sites are available for reservation, including handicapped sites. Remaining sites are rented on a first-come, first-served basis.
A dump station is located near the entrance to each camping area. A primitive camping area is available for scouts and other organized groups.

Park Exhibits
A number of exhibits may be viewed in the Interpretive Center, located in a wing of the parks' visitors' center. The park office is also located in this building.

Day-Use-Facilities
Family and friends can enjoy an outing at the park's picnic areas. In addition to numerous picnic tables, six picnic shelters help to provide shade and protection from weather. Shelters may be used free of charge or reserved in advance for a nominal fee. Tennis buffs will enjoy the two tennis courts, while bicyclists can enjoy a spin along the bike trail.

Other Facilities
The Village Round meeting building, located in the cabin area, can accommodate 75 persons. It has restrooms, a kitchenette and covered barbecue shelter. Information about rental rates can be obtained from the visitors' center.

Directions to Santee State Park
The park is located at 251 State Park Road, just off of S.C. Highway 6, three miles northwest of Santee and I-95 via exit #98.

- Santee National Wildlife Refuge - Features a visitor information center with interpretive exhibits.
- Santee Indian Mound/Fort Watson - This prehistoric ceremonial Indian mound is also the site of a 1781 Revolutionary War battle.
- Calhoun County Museum - Houses an art gallery, period rooms, Indian exhibits and other historic exhibits.
- Orangeburg National Fish Hatchery - Provides aquariums of sunfish, striped and largemouth bass, alligators, turtles and catfish.
- Eutaw Springs Battle Site - Location of the last major Revolutionary War battle (1781) in South Carolina.
- Francis Beidler Forest - Contains the world's largest remaining virgin stands of bald cypress and tupelo trees.
